Aluminum and Its Effects on the Body

Aluminium SpoonAluminum is a nonferrous metal and can enter your body in 3 ways: by what we eat, so we breathe and what we drink. We must take certain precautions because the aluminum has no beneficial biological function. On the contrary, some people manifest allergy to aluminum, suffering from contact dermatitis, and even digestive disorders, and for everyone else, is not considered as toxic as heavy metals, although there is evidence of some toxicity if consumed in large quantities

When cooking or eating should be careful because you can filter waste aluminum utensils whether spoons, forks, spatulas and other objects made of this material. Also, certain medications such as anti acids contain aluminum hydroxide.

On the other hand it is important to know that we can find aluminum in the air. While it is true that the amount they walk normally in the air we breathe is minimal, there are many more risks in locations with high pollution rates. We also find the aluminum hydroxide and sulfated common form in the water we drink because it is used for water purification process.

There are urban legends about products that contain aluminum. For example, deodorants antiperspirants containing aluminum chlorohydrate were vetoed by certain social groups to believe that inflamed mammary glands to prevent perspiration and subsequently caused cancer. So far there any medical evidence to support this theory. However if you prefer not to risk exist in the aluminum-free deodorant market in its composition.

Let us continue with other theories that were not resolved by medicine. It is believed that people with degenerative Alzheimer’s disease have a higher level of aluminum in the brain. The same happens when patients are treatments for kidney: exposure to high levels of aluminum during dialysis, the patient may have a form of dementia known as encephalopathy because of dialysis.

Finally, it is thought that a person exposed to high levels of aluminum may develop Parkinson’s disease and other neurological disorders.

While it is true that there is still no scientific certification of the above, not much else is at and try to stay away from the metal until proven otherwise.
