Changes in sexual functioning among women are comparable to impotence or erection problems in men. They consist of a series of sexual disorders that are characterized in the absence of desire and pleasure in women, which may occur both during intercourse and during the self-satisfaction (masturbation).
Up to 43% of women have ever had in your life problems in their sexual performance. These alterations can be grouped into the following categories:
* Lack of sexual desire (anaphrodisia) is due to the declining levels of estrogen (female sex hormone)
* Difficulties to achieve sexual arousal (frigidity): you have the desire, but do not get the excitement of what’s aversion or avoidance of sexual contact with a partner.
* Inability to achieve orgasm (anorgasmia): the woman has sexual desire and arousal, but no climax or full satisfaction in the relationship.
* Pain during intercourse (dyspareunia): the woman has sexual desire and arousal, but penetration causes physical discomfort or pain. It also may be associated with involuntary contraction of the muscles of the vagina (vaginismus), making it difficult to penetrate.
