Look Out for Milwaukee in the Second Half

The United States’ sport of choice in the summer is its favorite pastime, Major League Baseball. I admit that there is nothing I like to do better on a hot summer day than to flip on my air conditioning, my direct tv deals in NY, and watch my favorite team duke it out with the competition. I follow the Milwaukee Brewers, and although there wasn’t much to cheer for at the beginning of the season the Brewers have started to win some games here and there and are emerging as a contender for another playoff run.

The bats were as loud as ever at the beginning of the season and the Brewers led the National League in many offensive categories including home runs and runs batted in. The pitching and the bullpen were the obvious weaknesses and the Brewers were being forced to score over five runs a game in order to keep up with their competition. It was actually to a point where unless their ace, Yovanni Gallardo, was pitching the Brewers were almost guaranteed to loose.

The bullpen wasn’t helping either, blowing multiple games where the offense produced enough runs to win but the pitchers gave the game up in the ninth inning. Lately however the Brewers have solidified as a team and have put together some nice winning streaks. They are currently in third place in the NL Central and are coming on fast. Look out for the Milwaukee Brewers in the second half of the season.
