Red Basics Wine Is A Basic Health Staple

Recent studies investigating the benefits of red wine have suggested that consuming a moderate amount of red wine lowers the risk of heart attack for persons in the middle age category by 30 to 50 percent. The equivalent of one drink a day for women and two drinks a day for men. It has also been suggested that alcohol such as that type found in red wine might prevent additional heart attacks in people who have already suffered from a heart attack.

Other relevant studies have indicated that red wine can raise HDL type cholesterol (known as the good cholesterol) and prevent LDL type cholesterol (the bad cholesterol) from forming in the blood stream. Red basics wine may also help to prevent blood clots and reduce blood vessel damage caused by fatty deposits in the arteries.

Armed with that information you might think that starting a regiment of a glass a day of red basics wine would be a good thing for general heart and circulatory health. Warnings from the American Heart Association advise people not to consider alcohol drinking as a health benefit if they do not already drink alcohol, and if you already drink, to do so in moderation. AHA interpretation of moderate is one to two drinks per day for men and one drink per day for women, with a single drink being one 12 oz. beer, 4 ounces of basics wine, 1.5 ounces of 80 proof spirits, or 1 ounce of 100 proof distilled spirits.
