The importance of fiber as a nutritional goes far beyond its power to regulate bowel function.

Undoubtedly, the preventive effects of gastrointestinal and cardiovascular diseases make the fiber an indispensable component of the daily diet.

It has long been thought that fiber was not necessary for humans because it could not be digested. It was believed then that the improvement of food it should be eliminated by industrial processes.

However, research has shown that fiber is an essential part of nutrition, as currently recommended daily consumption.

Either way, the issue is to consume the amount of fiber needed.
